CHEATS: NEW RANGERS SIGNING ADMITS WHAT CELTIC FANS ALREADY KNEW

Today's game definitely doesn't "belong in a museum".
Today's game definitely doesn't "belong in a museum".

Some things never change. Celtic once again fail to turn up against a vastly inferior Rangers side, Celtic enjoyed the bulk of possession but did nothing with it.

And, Rangers openly cheated, with not even a hint of sanction from the referee.

Celtic Fans Unsurprised by Miovski Revelation

One of the few moments of drama in an utterly anemic Glasgow Derby came early in the game when new Rangers signing Bojan Miovski flung himself to the floor under a challenge from former Aberdeen team-mate Liam Scales.

I’ll admit, my initial reaction was “oh naw, that’s a penalty.”

However, replays showed it wasn’t a penalty. Not even close.

And to make matters worse, Miovski straight up admitted it in his post-match interview.

The Macedonian forward said of the challenge from Liam Scales: “I felt contact so I had to go down.”

There you have it folks, straight from the horse’s ar*e.

Replays clearly show that Miovski propelled himself over Scales’ leg to attempt to win a penalty. Scales, to give him his due, called this out in his own post-match comments.

“It wasn’t a penalty. He has to do better.”

I get it. It’s a long-standing joke in Scottish football that the only certainties in life are death, taxes and penalties to Rangers. At least VAR has put an end to that, despite the best efforts of the many officials in Scottish football with obvious sympathies towards Ibrox.

But the notion that a player, even someone who plays for “The Rangers” can openly brag about cheating on national TV, knowing he’ll face no sanction for doing so, then the game is up as far as I’m concerned.

Retrospective yellow cards aren’t a thing in football in the present day, but incidents like today show why, perhaps, they should be.

But at the end of the day, despite an utterly insipid performance, we’re top of the league, 6 points clear of the Temu Tribute Act, as a friend of mine recently called them.

Celtic still have a long, long way to go to get anywhere near our best. That will come, with time, and with, hopefully at least a couple more signings over the next day or so. Celtic fans need to see our club are serious about moving forward.

There will be numerous attempts to spin narratives in the papers and online over the next few days. They will claim that this is, somehow, a breakthrough moment for Rangers. They will claim that the Ibrox side have “turned the corner”.

They haven’t. I know that, you know that, and deep down, they know that too.

The upcoming break is a chance for us to regroup, hopefully get our new players up to speed and then we go again.

Today was a bad day, but ultimately, it’s a worse result for them than it was for us.

We welcome the chase.
