DAILY RECORD KEITH JACKSON TANTRUM SHOWS RANGERS TAKEOVER TURMOIL

Another Daily Record Tantrum as Takeover Troubles Continue.

I had to laugh when I looked at the papers this morning and I saw Keith Jackson calling Dave King a “Rangers Attention Seeker”.

Hearing Jackson call anyone out for attention seeking and deference to Rangers is a bit like having Hannibal Lecter tell you: “Mate, you need to cut back on the red meat.”

Jackson opened up today’s tantrum with this little slice of a total lack of self-awareness: “It’s best not to pay too much notice to the attention-seeking bombast of Dave King.”

Attention-Seeking Bombast? Really? At this point Keith Jackson may as well just put himself on a leash and fully embrace his role as the current Rangers’ board lapdog of choice.

It’s been nothing but attention-seeking bombast from Mr. Jackson and his cohorts at the Daily Record since his “world exclusive” about this Rangers takeover back in February.

Note that back then, he claimed it would be a “done deal” within a matter of weeks. Then it became the end of March, then April, then sometime in May and finally, as of yesterday “sometime in June, at the earliest”.

Now, Dave King is not someone to be venerated, or trusted, but I put more stock in what he says than any of Jackson’s inane ramblings. Because, unlike most of the people Jackson spends his days chasing after, King actually has the money, and he has used it in the past.

Jackson’s quoted figure of 50 million pounds to complete the takeover is well-wide of the mark.

If that is true, there’s no way the Americans will pay that. What is more likely is that The Americans are, rightly, offering to take control of the club. They are not prepared to settle up the debts caused by the over-exuberant share issues of the previous board.

That’s where this “10%” of the deal that remains uncompleted comes from.

The Americans are, potentially, taking on a series of distressed assets. They’ll want to keep their initial outlay to an absolute minimum.

Jackson knows this, and his petulant berating of King is merely a distraction from this inescapable truth.

Jackson then regurgitates the same nonsense his own paper debunked earlier this week, regarding Andrew Cavenagh’s level of investment. He added: “Cavenagh has also pledged to pump a significant sum into this summer’s transfer kitty”.

Even if Cavenagh was inclined to, which he isn’t, Financial Fair Play rules dictate that such a spontaneous investment simply can’t happen.

Though I guess, that depends on what you consider a “significant sum”. As I mentioned yesterday, to get anywhere near Celtic, that investment would need to be around 70-80 million pounds.

Rangers will be lucky to get even a tenth of that. I know that, Jackson knows that, and once you filter out the delusional acolytes, most reasonable Rangers fans know it too.

However, as usual, Jackson has no interest in actually reporting the truth or taking a balanced view.

He’s playing to the gallery and is clearly acting under instruction from whichever current Rangers board members who hold some kind of grudge against Dave King.

Jackson's total lack of neutrality is embarrassing.

Ultimately, the biggest losers in all of this will be any Rangers fans unfortunate enough to fall for his fantastical ramblings.
