It’s been an up and down few days for the Celtic support. In such times we can, occasionally lose focus on what really matters.
On the pitch, the reality is that whatever happens, we will have another league championship to celebrate sooner or later.
Off the pitch however, many fans, especially our younger supporters are having a hard time of it these days, as poverty remains a clear and present danger to many in Glasgow and beyond.
So, it’s really nice to see the Green Brigade, a group that often divides opinion among the Celtic support, doing something that I think every one of us can unquestionably get behind 100%.
Green Brigade Want to Make Easter Special for Young Celtic Fans
Ahead of this Saturday’s match with Kilmarnock at Celtic Park, the Green Brigade will be hosting their latest charitable collection.
This time, the Celtic ultra fan group will be collecting Easter eggs for distribution to local food banks.

In a modern, supposedly civilized country, its absolutely criminal that foodbanks even need to exist. But for as long as they do, I for one am glad that groups like the Green Brigade will be there to play their part to make life that little bit more bearable for the disadvantaged in our society.
In a statement the Green Brigade asked any fans visiting Celtic Park on Saturday who wish to donate Easter Eggs to leave them at the collection point outside area 111.
In addition to Easter Eggs, The Green Brigade will also be accepting donations of arts and crafts materials. These will then be passed on to The Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
Cash donations are also welcome for those who can afford to do so.
This is just the latest in a long-running tradition of great charitable endeavors from The Green Brigade.
In an age where commercialism had come to dominate so much of football culture around the world, I am glad we still have groups like this who continue to uphold the honorable, charitable traditions upon which Celtic was founded.
I encourage everyone attending on Saturday to support this initiative in any way you can.
Also, please spread the word about this charitable collection, where you can. It’s the sort of thing that deserves to be widely reported in our newspapers and other media, but we all know it won’t.
It doesn’t fit the mainstream media’s agenda.
Once again, in the absence of empathy from our media, it falls on us, the Celtic support to do the right thing. Thank you everyone.
