JOCELIN TA BI CELTIC FANS KNOW THE CRIMES OF HIS CLUB AREN'T ON THE PLAYER

Many Celtic fans are forthright in their support of Palestine.
Many Celtic fans are forthright in their support of Palestine.

As in much of the civilized world right now, and America, there’s a massive debate going on across Scotland about whether or not to do business of any kind with any entity connected to the Israeli government, in light of the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Celtic fans, not all of course but plenty of us, have been quite been quite consistently vocal in this regard. Israeli players are welcome, just as is any player who wants to come and play for us, and is willing to take on the responsibility that entails. However, giving money to clubs that actively help to enable the war crimes in Palestine, that’s an entirely different matter altogether.

None of this however can in any way be blamed on Jocelin Ta Bi, Celtic fans know this. He’s an Ivorian, not an Israeli, even if he is currently registered with Israeli side Maccabi Netanya.

Celtic fans are smart enough to understand the nuance here. Even if our mainstream media, and similarly ignorant outlets in Israel choose not to be.

For those wondering what I’m going on about, Maccabi Netanya are owned by an especially insidious group known as Aliya Capital Partners. On the surface, they just look like your typical bunch of vulture capitalists, moving money around various enterprises to enrich their investors, whilst, naturally, paying as little tax on this accumulated wealth as possible.

Such things may be immoral but they are not a crime.

What is possibly a crime however, is ACP’s investment in Xtend, an Israeli drone company. They make drones that are, unapologetically used frequently in Israeli terrorist incursions into Palestinian territory. This makes ACP accessories to mass-murder, no matter how they try to frame it.

ACP have invested $30 million in these war-profiteers since things really kicked off in Gaza two years ago.

Jocelin Ta Bi is a young man from a poor nation, who moved to a wealthy one to try and make a career for himself in football. He has no say in what the owners of the team that bought him do with their ill-gotten gains.

Actually, the player is probably taking a bit of a risk by being as positive about Celtic as he has been over the last few days.

We saw from the way some Israeli media, and prominent football personalities who are pro-regime in the country basically bullied Liel Abada into leaving Celtic a couple of years ago, just how toxic the anti-Celtic rhetoric coming from certain quarters in Israel can be.

So, I think Ta Bi was being quite brave when he said the following this week:

“Playing for a club like Celtic is a dream come true for me. “I am going to fulfil a big dream, at a famous club and in one of the best stadiums in the world.”

Remember these words guys. If and when Jocelin Ta Bi signs for Celtic, he becomes one of us. The fact that our board have potentially chosen to throw £2 million of blood money at the murderous thugs who control his current club has nothing to do with him.

Unlike that scumbag Netanyahu and his worldwide gaggle of enablers, Celtic fans always have, and always will welcome anyone of any creed, color or faith who wants to come and play for us, and has the ability to do so.
