DAILY RECORD ABADA RANGERS STORY IS TABLOID GUTTER PRESS AT ITS WORST

The gutter press are at it again.
The gutter press are at it again.

There are few Celtic players in recent years who have seen their Celtic careers brought to a premature end in sadder circumstances than Liel Abada.

The Israeli winger scored a number of vital goals and dazzled the Celtic support during his all too short stay in Glasgow.

Sadly, when the leaders of his homeland decided to launch an invasion of Gaza, plenty of external forces couldn’t wait to do all they could to unsettle Abada, and brand Celtic fans “antisemitic and racist”.

The likes of bitter failed Celtic player, and staunch supporter of the current genocide, Eyal Berkovic, couldn’t wait to put the boot into Celtic. Though, not quite with the same ferocity that big John Hartson was famously put his own boot into Berkovic’s smug little face.

Daily Record Abada Rangers Link Story is Beyond Contempt

Back then, the likes of the Daily Record and The S*n couldn’t wait to jump on this bandwagon. Claiming that Celtic fans were forcing the player out.

I’ll say once more for the hard of thinking, showing support and solidarity for the Palestinian people and their plight does not make you antisemitic, no matter what the right-wing gutter press try to say.

Many, but of course not all, Celtic fans, feel an affinity with the Palestinian people. Their struggle, their forced exclusion from their homeland, the needless deaths happening every day, are all too familiar to Celtic fans who know their history, and are of the Irish diaspora.

It is to Liel Abada’s eternal credit that he spoke with nothing but warmth, affection and appreciation for the Celtic support when he left the club. He has also maintained a dignified silence on the issue ever since.

If there’s one player that we can be sure has been offered every kind of incentive, financial or otherwise to throw Celtic under the bus since departing the club, it’s Liel Abada. Yet he has consistently declined the chance to do so. For that, he has my deep respect.

Of course, it hasn’t stopped the Daily Record from dredging up a sad saga that is now nearly two years old in the name of pathetic attention grabbing.

The Record Hotline claims in an “exclusive from an in-the-know scout in the MLS”, that Liel Abada is being lined up for a move to Rangers.

This will not happen. I know, you know it, they know it. But they decided to run it anyway, regardless of the human cost.

The Record Hotline is notorious as an outlet for the worst kind of moon howling morons from all football club fanbases to vent their spleens. That does not mean that the Record doesn’t have any editorial responsibility for what they put there.

Whatever your views on the situation in Palestine right now, Liel Abada has done nothing inflammatory, nothing hateful and he has coped with what must have been a very, very mentally distressing time for him and his family with dignity.

He doesn’t deserve to have his name dragged through the mud by the likes of the Daily Record, to grab headlines.

So now, Abada will not be going to Rangers. He will, I am sure, enjoy a highly successful career in football for many years to come. It’s just sad that circumstances beyond his and our control mean it won’t be at Celtic.
