THE RANGERS TAKEOVER: ANCELOTTI TALK IS A DISTRACTION AS “NEW OWNERS” GO MISSING

The Daily Record never learns, or rather they flatly refuse to learn when it comes to their coverage of a certain football club.
Misappropriated quotes, “multiple” and yet strangely uncheckable sources, total and utter hyperbolae, the Daily Record’s story about Davide Ancelotti supposedly “almost certain” to be the next Rangers boss.
Rangers Takeover Talk Goes Quiet as Son of Legendary Manager Linked with Ibrox Hotseat
The Rangers fans “demanded” a big name, so the Daily Record is giving them what they want. Ok, so he’s 35 years old and his entire career to date is almost entirely off the back of his famous father, but there's no denying Ancelotti is a big name!
But why let simple things like his total lack of qualifications bar him from becoming the Daily Record’s latest savior who is going to put right every wrong that’s occurred at Ibrox since the new club was born.
The most telling part of all of this, there’s not a word on what any of the people supposedly at the heart of The Rangers Takeover think about Ancelotti or his prospects of becoming the new manager at Mordor.
In fact, there’s barely been a word from Andrew Cavenagh and company for over a week. Last time we saw them publicly was their impromptu guided tour of the Ibrox Car Park where every major mainstream outlet showed up, snapped their photos, but didn’t bother to ask a single question.
Rangers have played twice since then, including a Glasgow Derby, and the group already named by The Daily Record weeks ago as “Rangers New Owners” despite nothing having been signed, have been conspicuous by their absence.
However, also absent has been any semblance of inquiry from The Daily Record, The S*n or any of the other usual suspects as to why these investors have suddenly lost interest in attending Ibrox.
I’m sure Keith Jackson is busy preparing yet another “trust me mate, it’s a done deal” article as we speak. However, all the Ancelotti talk directly contradicts that.
There’s two scenarios here, and The Daily Record seems to have no idea which one is accurate.
Scenario 1, is that the takeover is in trouble, or least delayed until the summer, in which case the current Rangers board have to either give Barry Ferguson the job permanently or appoint someone as equally cheap and equally gullible.

In that case, Ancelotti, in his desperation to finally step out of his father’s shadow might fit the bill.
Or there’s a second scenario. Talks on the takeover are continuing, but after last week’s media sideshow, where Cavenagh especially seemed very p*ssed off at the whole spectacle, the Americans have decided to tell Jackson and company nothing until there’s a concrete deal in place.
In which case, this whole Ancelotti thing is just a distraction, and another good news story for Rangers fans desperate to have someone too cling on to that the furor around their “pitch of the year” award has died down.
Personally, I think it’s the latter. Ancelotti junior isn’t stupid, and surely his agents must know what an absolute poisoned chalice the Rangers manager’s gig is. It’s career Kryptonite.
Unrealistic expectations, married to an overwhelming sense of entitlement and the all held together with the financial stability of Enron stock.
It's a disaster waiting to happen for whoever is daft enough to take the job on, new owners or not.
Only the most desperate of aspiring young managers would even consider it.
