THE S*N HAS A "BREAKING" SHIN YAMADA CELTIC STORY TODAY, THAT WE ALREADY TOLD YOU 3 DAYS AGO

It doesn't take a ninja to work out when The S*n are at it.
It doesn't take a ninja to work out when The S*n are at it.

Perhaps today's 24 hour news cycle doesn't quite move as fast as we are led to believe.

Either that, or the hacks at The S*n forgot to read The ACSOM Blog this week!

I know they're not the sharpest bunch of tools in the drawer, though there is certainly no shortage of tools working at that paper.

However, running a story this morning as "breaking news" when we first discussed it on Monday is bordering on the ridiculous.

Shin Yamada Celtic Timeline Exclusive is Nothing of the Sort

Regular readers will recall that I explained on Monday in great detail why it would probably be at least a few more days, and probably around July 15th before we got confirmation of the Shin Yamada Celtic deal.

He has just earned his first international call up, albeit to an entirely J-League sourced squad for the 4 team mini tournament that is the East Asian Football Federation Cup.

Yamada played the second half of Japan's 6-1 win against Hong Kong on Monday and will, most likely, play a similar role in the upcoming games against China and South Korea.

The tournament concludes next Monday, so expect a formal announcement to follow shortly after.

Now, I didn't have some unique inside source to come to this conclusion.

Granted, I do have the benefit of my somewhat limited Japanese allowing me to read the morning press over here, which outlined a similar timeline a few days ago.

Still, it is a shocking indictment on the state of Scottish football journalism that one Celtic fan with a laptop and a few too many opinions for his own good, can put a story together several days before the Scottish mainstream media, based purely on a little bit of research, but more importantly some basic common sense.

Is it really too much to ask for The S*n or any other paper for that matter to consult the calendar? To do a quick Google search to see when Japan's latest series of international games concludes and who is in the squad?

When I wrote that piece on Monday I assumed everyone else would draw a similar conclusion within a few minutes, but no.

It's really quite worrying, the lack of basic inquiry skills our Scottish football press continues to show.

It's not just Celtic fans who suffer because of this. They have new owners at Rangers, and no-one has any idea what their actual plans are.

I've already speculated they could be heading for another disaster, and just like before, a compliant and unquestioning press is complicit.

Instead we"ve had 6 months of unquestioned positivity, and an equally focussed attempt to drum up as much pessimism around Celtic as possible during that same period.

Too many of our mainstream "journalists" these days spend too much time trying to create their own narratives. What we need to do, is focus on telling the story, as it is. That's what I try to do every day.

I guess I should be thankful that the likes of The S*n and the Daily Record don't.

After all, their utter incompetence makes my own mediocrity just that wee bit more appealing!
