THIRD TOUNEKTI CELTIC BID IN: ONE DOWN THREE TO GO?

Sebastian Tounekti is said to be on his way to Celtic Park right now.
Sebastian Tounekti is said to be on his way to Celtic Park right now.

In an unexpected, and frankly shocking turn of events, after a couple of weeks’ worth of bartering back and forth, Celtic have, inexplicably, actually met another club’s valuation for one of their players.

Yes, according to multiple sources today, Celtic have made a third bid, in the region of 5.2 million pounds for Hammarby winger Sebastian Tounekti.

Hammarby have been consistent throughout this entire protracted process that they wouldn’t accept anything less than 5 million. It seems Celtic’s money men finally got the memo.

Tunisian Sources: Tounekti Celtic Move “a Done Deal”

Multiple sources in Tounekti’s home nation of Tunisia reported this morning that not only has a fee been agreed, but that the player is already on his way to Glasgow, to complete a medical ahead of tonight’s transfer deadline.

The player himself was non-committal about it all after finding the net in what may well be his final game for Hammarby last night. A 4-0 win over Osters.

Tounekti said: “I know Celtic, specifically are interested. It’s nice to have interest from a big club. We’ll see what happens.”

Tounekti has already had an interesting career so far, despite still being only 23. Born in Norway, he played for his country of birth up to under-19 level. However, he then switched to Tunisia, where his father is from, at the start of his senior international career.

So far, he has spent the entirety of his career in Scandinavia, barring a short loan spell with Groningen in The Netherlands. However, he’s already played for two of the region’s biggest clubs in Bodo Glimt and Hammarby, who hail from Sweden.

Tounekti has earned a series of rave reviews both in Sweden and internationally over the past year or so, as he continues to develop.

A pacy winger with an eye for goal, Sebastian Tounekti seems, or at least we hope he will become, the perfect replacement for Nicholas Kuhn. His departure for Como in Italy was only 6 weeks ago. Yet this has been such a long, drawn out and draining transfer window for Celtic fans that it seems like an eon ago.

Negotiations continue for Kasper Dolberg, despite reported late interest from Ajax. Crystal Palace’s Jesurun Rak-Sakyi is also rumored to be locked in talks with Celtic as we speak.

Brendan Rodgers spoke yesterday of bringing 4 players in before the window shuts. The final piece of this quartet remains to be revealed.

This is going to be a long day, but hopefully, in the end, it proves to be a rewarding one for Celtic.
