ANCELOTTI U-TURN: DAILY RECORD SEEKS TO COVER UP LIES WITH MORE LIES, CELTIC FANS WON’T BE FOOLED

Just how stupid does the Daily Record think it's readers are? Well, very, it would seem.
Just how stupid does the Daily Record think it's readers are? Well, very, it would seem.

I joked on the ACSOM Bulletin the other day that, when it comes to the Daily Record, “half the lies they tell aren’t true.”

Even I didn’t think the Record’s biggest culprit in this regard, Keith Jackson, would give us all a literal demonstration of this within a couple of days. But that’s exactly what he did this morning.

Record “Exclusive” mysteriously vanishes from their Website, But Celtic Fans Won’t Fall For it

The Daily Record article that I referred to in my first article about the Davide Ancelotti to Rangers story earlier this week has mysteriously vanished from their website.

You’ll recall that the Record said earlier this week that Ancelotti was “almost certain” to be the next Rangers manager.

Yes, the Daily Record really does think Celtic fans, Rangers fans, indeed their entire readership really are that stupid.

I said at the time I thought it was nonsense, made up to distract from the lack of any movement on The Rangers Takeover story which the Daily Record has been desperately trying to wish into reality since February.

Judging by his editorial piece today, and I never thought I would say this, it seems Keith Jackson agrees with me.

I had to laugh though when I saw the headline: “Truth behind the next Rangers manager search and the insanity of making the mother of all assumptions”.

Where do we even start with this?

Truth is a word that, at this point, I’m amazed anyone at the Daily Record sports desk remembers how to spell.

They’ve shown in their constant fawning coverage of Rangers for years, and their complete denial of the reality they themselves printed in the summer of 2012, that the original Rangers died in disgrace.

That they don’t give a damn about truth and they never have.

Yet, in a desperate move to remain relevant, Jackson has gone even further than usual, throwing one of his own reporters under the bus by rubbishing a story which, I’m fairly sure, he would have seen and approved before the Record ran it earlier this week.

Not only does Jackson claim, in direct contrast to the Record’s earlier position that this was a “done deal” that it’s nowhere near concluded, he goes further.

He adds that in his opinion, Rangers would be “insane” to appoint someone so inexperienced.

On that at least, he and I agree.

Jackson then goes on to make various thinly-veiled, baseless accusations that the entire story is just some scheme concocted by Ancelotti senior to help his boy land a proper managerial gig.

The irony of Keith Jackson alleging that any fellow journalists allowed themselves to be manipulated into playing the role of “useful idiots” is no doubt completely lost on him.

In fairness though, if anyone has the experience and the track record to know utter horsesh*t when they see it in a newspaper, it’s Keith Jackson.

This back-pedaling on the Ancelotti story is probably a sign of things to come. Much like the takeover story, this appointment may eventually happen or it may not. However, Jackson clearly doesn’t have a clue either way.

Once again this is all just a distraction.
